Description

Are you passionate about helping others, while also bettering your community? Denham Resources has an exciting opportunity for a Family Self Sufficiency Coordinator in Madera. If you have a social work, or community services background, you are strongly encouraged to apply for this position!

- This position will be responsible for providing and monitoring program services in the area of economic development, self-sufficiency, homeownership, drug prevention and family services. The incumbent performs skilled work in interviewing, assessing and establishing appropriate programs for clients, and is responsible for ongoing follow-up and case management activities.
- Provides information, training and workshops for FSS Program candidates; explains program requirements and benefits; interviews and assists with the assessment of potential and current program participants to determine appropriate services; assists in the coordination of referrals to community agencies including health, welfare, education, employment and housing services; develops individual training and services plan to guide participants towards personal, educational and employment goals; provides ongoing case management for program participants; maintains records and prepares progress reports on a regular basis for FSS and resident programs.
- Maintains contact with all community agencies providing appropriate supportive services; identifies available services and advises clients on options and requirements; promotes agency programs, resident involvement and drug free housing; interprets, explains and applies applicable federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations including HUD regulations for FSS and resident initiative programs.
- Meets with community groups, representatives of community service agencies, program participants and the general public; provides information regarding program activities and policies; develops resident initiative activities, as well as establishment of a Resident Advisory Board and Resident Advisory Council and a wide variety of public information materials including an agency newsletter; and monitors the work of volunteers.
- Establishes positive working relationships with representatives of community organizations, other governmental agencies and associations, Housing Authority management and staff, clients and the public.

Requirements

- Associate's Degree in social work, human services, or counseling preferred or;
- High School diploma with two years of community services or housing experience
- Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish
- Knowledge of human and community services, and case management
- Previous experience conducting interviews and assessments
- Sound judgement in analyzing complex situations; ability to interpret, explain and apply applicable laws, codes and regulations
- Able to communicate clearly verbally and in writing
- Proficiency with office software-word processing software, multi-line phones, and other applicable software
- Valid Class C Driver's License; Must be insurable
