Description

Are you ready to make a difference in your community? Our client seeking an Assistant Director of Development for the Central Valley. In this role you will be responsible for developing key external alliances, cultivating major donor prospects, helping to design fund-raising programs and events, and grow their brand in the North Valley. They offer flexibility with schedule and great benefits.

-Serve as a close strategic advisor and partner to the Director of Development & Communications, as well as a member of the Leadership team
-Be first point of contact to prospective donors and partners and an example of the Brand Identity and Mission Statement
-Cultivate and maintain donor relations, communication, fundraising, and marketing within brand identity
-Maintain in-depth knowledge of program offerings and services to explain the program needs in meaningful manner
-Build and maintain critical relationships with key local organizations and partners, maintain relationships with personal portfolio of top donors and prospects
-Create and implement innovative strategies for securing new and untapped funding resources
-Assist with the planning and implementation of events to deliver an exceptional donor experience and meet fundraising goals including mixer events with Resource Development team
-Effectively leverage all events as opportunities to identify, cultivate, and steward both new and existing donors, as well as bring external awareness with new friends of our mission in the five counties served
-Work with the Director of Development & Communications to support fundraising strategy and operations
-Build a culture of philanthropy across the organization and our Board, demonstrating how all can be stronger advocates for our community
-Grant writing experience preferred, but not required

Requirements

-5+ years of professional experience in nonprofit fundraising (full cycle), with proven results and achievement in campaign development and major/principal gifts
-Complete end-to-end understanding of fundraising strategies, systems, and processes
-Bachelor’s degree: Certificate in Fund Raising Management preferred, but not required
-Prior direct responsibility for cultivating, soliciting and stewarding gifts of $25,000 or more
-Strong leadership skills to mentor and motivate others to reach development goals
-A strategic thinker who can drive the vision for the brand thru fundraising efforts
-A history of working directly with non-profits in support of fundraising efforts
-Knowledge of local and regional corporate and foundation communities; preexisting connection to the North Valley preferred
-Strong analytical skills and use of data to drive fundraising, partnership decisions and forecasting.
-An expert storyteller who can channel personal connection and belief of our mission and values
-Must be able to speak and communicate clearly, such as in public speaking engagements
-Strong written and oral communication skills. An effective public speaker and representative of the organization.
-Flexible: Ability to work evenings and weekends as required
-Leads with humility, empathy, and awareness; actively contributes to employees’ ability to reach their goals and thrive
-Fosters a respectful, transparent, and collaborative work environment
-Skilled at connecting with individuals across all socio-economic, ethnic, cultural, and professional backgrounds in the community.
-A self-starter who demonstrates strong personal initiative and the ability to drive projects through to completion
-Must be a true “people-person.”
-Ability to carefully study issues, identify trends and formulate new ideas
-Comfortable with multi-tasking; able to work both independently and in teams
-Skilled at receiving and giving feedback and performance critiques
-Patient, willing and able to have the difficult conversations as required. Skilled at conflict resolution
-Provide outstanding customer service to both internal and external customers including donors, volunteers, staff, and other community contacts
-Leverage technology and data across all development strategies and practices including strong proficiency in all Microsoft Suite applications

ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
-Clearance of background check
-Valid California state driver’s license clean DMV, reliable transportation
-Become a registered member of our organization
-Physical ability to frequently stop, kneel, bend, crouch, and reach overhead.
-Use of light force to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects up to 20 pounds, frequent weekends and evenings/nights, willingness and ability to work flexible schedule
-This position requires the ability to remain stationary and to use computer monitor, keyboard and mouse for extended periods of time
